What Is Kale?
Kale is a leafy green vegetable in the Brassica oleracea family and close to a wild cabbage. It features green or purple curly leaves. It’s become known as a ‘superfood’ due to its high nutritional content. It’s also used as an ornamental plant in parks and gardens5.
How They Taste
Kale varies in taste with smaller leaves having a milder flavor, while larger leaves have a more bitter flavor. Different varieties of kale have different flavours varying from bitter through to peppery or even sweet.
Kale is often used in salads, but is also dried and used in a variety of other ways.
